Uniform and Clothing

When you join Scouts, either as a youth member or as a leader, you will be expected to wear the Scout uniform.

A shirt and optional belt is all that makes up the basic Scout uniform. These items can be purchased from the NSW Scout Shop in Port Kembla (click here for details) or from the on-line Scout Shop. Second hand shirts may also be available to purchase from members of our group - check the clothing and items for sale page for a list of what is currently available.

Scarves and badges are provided at no cost by the 1st East Ryde Scout Group.

Other Scouting apparel e.g. hats, wind-cheaters, etc. is available for purchase from the Scout Shop if you wish.

For normal meetings and activities you will only need to wear the shirt, scarf with trousers/shorts, footwear and headwear appropriate to the activity. However for formal occasions you will be expected to dress more smartly - details will be provided by the leaders as appropriate. A copy of the group's uniform policy can be downloaded here.

Badge Placement

In addition to the normal Scouting badges, each section also has various award and activity badges which can be sewn onto the shirt. For details of the placement of these badges please refer to this document. Details are also available within information pages for each section within this website.
